Are there any changes to ExperiencePlus!’s terms and conditions due to COVID-19?

You can review the 2021 standard terms and conditions here. The most notable changes to the terms are that we clarified the definition of an event of force majeure (such as the COVID-19 pandemic) and we made the timeline for ExperiencePlus! to cancel a tour due to such an event more flexible.

As long as the COVID-19 pandemic persists and travel restrictions are in place either in the destination country or in your country of origin, we will be maintaining our Amended COVID-19 terms and conditions (LINK) for all departures which provides more flexible options in the event of a cancellation due to COVID-19.   We have not published the 2021 Amended terms, but we expect them to be very similar to those in 2020.

What if ExperiencePlus! has to cancel my tour due to COVID-19 travel restrictions?

Should COVID-19 travel restrictions continue into 2021 - in your country of origin, or in the destination of your tour, and force ExperiencePlus! to cancel a tour we will apply more flexible terms & conditions, similar to the 2020 Amended COVID-19 terms & conditions

What if I have to cancel my tour due to COVID-19?

Should COVID-19 travel restrictions continue into 2021, in the destination country or your country of origin, and force you to cancel a tour we will apply more flexible terms & conditions, similar to these Amended COVID-19 terms & conditions for 2020.  If travel restrictions are not in place for either the destination country or your country of origin, our standard terms and conditions will apply.

What if I cancel my tour for reasons not related to COVID-19?

Our standard terms & conditions will apply.

When will my final payment be taken?

If travel restrictions are in place at the time when final payments would normally be taken under the standard terms & conditions (90 days prior to the departure date, 120 days on Bike and Boat trips), then we will delay taking final payment until the travel restrictions are lifted.

Should I book or pencil in? What’s the difference?

You can take advantage of our pencil in status to hold a space without putting a deposit down but if the tour is getting full, or you would like to lock in a Re-Cycle discount we will request a deposit to hold your spot.  We will maintain our Amended Covid-19 terms as long as there are travel restrictions in each destination so you will be able to transfer your deposit to another tour if you choose to.

What changes can/might I expect on tour due to the new social distancing needs that may exist?

There will certainly be some changes in how we manage our operations on tour. We don’t yet have a full picture of what those changes will be but are already working to collect the best practices recommended by health departments and governments regarding how to manage group activities including meals, transfers etc.  Fortunately, most of our trips don’t require that you get in a van but we do imagine masks will need to be worn during vehicle transportation and in other crowded areas. It is possible we will not have as many dinners as a group and we will of course be sanitizing bikes, luggage etc.

As a new ways of traveling unfold, know that ensuring everyone’s safety is at the top of our list. One thing we do know is that flexibility is going to be key and it will be a fascinating time to be traveling.

When does Money on Account expire?

Usually Money on Account must be used, such as applied on a new tour, within one year from the date of cancellation. If you have money on account from a tour cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, under the Amended Terms for COVID-19, we are allowing two years from the date of cancellation.

What happens if I apply Money on Account to a future tour and that tour is also cancelled?

If the tour is cancelled due to COVID-19 travel restrictions then the Money on Account can be retained for two years from the date of cancellation, per our Amended Terms for COVID-19.

If the tour is cancelled for a reason not related to COVID-19 then the Money on Account can be retained for one year from the date of cancellation, per our standard terms & conditions.

Let’s say my tour is cancelled – by ExPlus or by me – and I transfer funds to Money on Account or transfer to another tour. What terms & conditions are in effect for the new tour on which I’ve applied my MOA or to which I’ve transferred?

Our standard terms and conditions are always in effect and would apply in these cases.  Should COVID-19 persist and impact your travel on the new tour as well – either in the destination country or because of your origin – then our Amended COVID-19 terms & conditions would be extended to this new tour.

What if I have excess Money on Account after booking my next tour?

Excess Money on Account (due to COVID-19 cancellations) remains eligible for use in booking an additional tour before December 31, 2022 or can be gifted to another party for their use by the same date.

When will my trip be confirmed? When should I start planning and booking my flights, hotels, etc.?

We will confirm trips as we reach our minimum number. BUT, if there are still travel restrictions in that destination and it is unclear when they will be lifted, we may delay confirming your trip.

What do I do about travel insurance?

We always recommend travel insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances. Visit our travel insurance page for our general information pertaining to travel insurance and your trip. That said, most travel insurance will not cover COVID-19 related issues. We recommend contacting insurance companies with your questions related to COVID-19 and their coverage terms.
