Six Useful Websites for Travel Planning

Though the following websites will not greet you with a smile or deliver luggage to your room, they are useful tools when mapping out travel options for getting to and from your cycling tour.

 Booking a flight

Along with the usual suspects (Kayak, Skyscanner, Google Flights, etc.) we recommend searching the following websites to track down the best fares, seat options and itineraries for your flight abroad. Of course, if you want to let the experts do some research, we work with Exito Travel, and they can always send you a customized quote for your flights on your preferred dates!

Seatguru

From seat maps to ideal itineraries, Seatguru’s algorithms and traveler forums provide all the information you’ll need while seeking out comfort and convenience on your flights.

Vayama

An online travel agency focused on international travel, Vayama.com works with a large network of global partners to provide a comprehensive set of published and negotiated fares to destinations across the globe.

Webjet

Of the many options available, we think this low-cost flight finder is worth a visit for affordable fares.

Getting around once you land

Europe has a fabulous public transportation network, but with the vast amount of options it can also be a bit difficult figuring out where to begin. The websites (and smartphone app) below provide a useful platform (excuse the pun) for mapping out transportation options once you’ve arrived abroad.Travel planning

Rome2Rio

Planes, trains, buses, cars, and ferries – Rome2Rio leaves no mode of transportation out of the equation. Find a variety of transportation options to get from the airport to your hotel, city to city, or even from one country to the next. Hint: Rome2Rio is a great option for planning out ground transportation ahead of your trip, though some ticket prices are not always reliable.

Moovit (Busted! We snuck a smartphone app in the list)

If you’re planning on having a data plan while traveling, Moovit’s features allow you to explore your nearby surroundings, gather information on transportation schedules, and get an updated ETA as you make your way to the station! Discover the transportation routes in a city, compare all surrounding options and get detailed directions all the way to the nearest station.

Go straight to the source!

In addition to third party sites we always recommend taking a look at the website of the airport that  you will be flying into for ground transportation information.
