Back and Better Than Ever: Cycling Italy’s Dolomites

Italy’s Dolomites are Calling

6 Reasons You Should Answer

Trying to decide where to ride next year? We have got a few reasons for you to consider fine-tuning your photography skills and gearing up your climbing legs to cycle Italy’s jaw-dropping Dolomites in 2017!

1. Mountains – Virtually synonymous for one another, the Dolomites offer a mountain experience that might ultimately leave you on an unbeatable quest to find better scenery. Cycle the Sella Ronda, a loop that climbs four legendary Giro d’Italia passes including the famous Passo Pordoi.

“I’ve ridden the famed Sella Ronda twice now, and afterwards, both times, I left for home shaking my head, overwhelmed by the grand cathedral I was leaving behind. It is beautiful, it is grand, it is nigh spiritual. It’s a must.” – Jered Gruber from Pez Cycling News

2. Bi-cultural Cuisine – The best of both worlds! Because the of its shared borders, cycling the Dolomites offers the best of Italy’s culinary specialties and German/Austrian cuisine. From Italian wine to German pastries and strudels, you’ll have pedaled up an appetite that will be well satiated by these treats.

3. Wildflowers – Many believe the Dolomites offer the most interesting variety of flowers in the entire Alps. June and July are perfect wildflower viewing months, right when we have dates!

4. Four, Two-night Stays –  There’s too much to explore over a single night stay, so unpack your bags as we dive deep into Bolzano (capital of the South Tyrol province), Dobbiaco (gem of Alta Pusteria), Cortina (queen of the Dolomites), and Corvara (a classic ski town located at the foot of Mount Sassongher and a launching point for the Sella Ronda).

5. Hiking –  Stretch out your legs and explore flower-lined trails as the famed peaks surrounding Cortina tower in the distance.

6. It is THE Coveted Bicycling Trip – the new Dolomites tour is causing quite the internal ‘competition’ among the entire ExperiencePlus! staff in the US office. It’s THE trip we are all hoping to take in 2017.
